Morgan is Cree-Metis from Treaty 8 Territory, and resides in Calgary, Alberta. She has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Mount Royal University, and a Master of Sustainability from the University of Saskatchewan, where her project focused on Traditional Knowledge inclusion in Environmental Assessments in Canada.
During the pursuit of her undergraduate degree she worked for an organization delivering STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programming to youth across the North, primarily in Nunavut and Northwest Territories. This provided her the opportunity to travel to over 25 northern and remote communities, and engage with hundreds of youth.
After graduating, she worked for a few years in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on remediation and reclamation. This work involved historical file review, field assessments, and on site soil collection and analysis, to inform report writing and site specific recommendations.
She held a role on a research team, assessing the future water availability for a community in Nunavut. She led the Community Engagement sessions, and Traditional Knowledge sharing, to provide opportunities for Indigenous Ways of Knowing to complement the data collected via western science techniques.
